Steeped in old time Appalachian music with notes of classic country and rock & roll, deep-fried with the eerie cold shoulder of death and despair, Atlanta’s six piece Americana/southern gothic Blood On The Harp dons their blackest attire and darkens the door of Atlanta’s music scene.

Ghost(s) Vol. 1, the band’s freshman release, showcases the group’s beginning as a five piece string band. Release number two, the appropriately named Ghost(s) Vol. 2, hears the band progress from haunting string band to the six genre bending pallbearers of modern country music.

Blood On The Harp exudes an intense energy on stage. Christopher Salmon wafts the sounds of nostalgic, rhythmic banjo solos and shredding fiddle parts, while guitar player Chris Johnson fuels the third harmony of dark duet Miguel Olascuaga and Keena Graham. Keena’s soul-drenched arias dance with Miguel’s tenor croon, giving voice to the oft wordless pain that living requires. Russell Blair’s aggressive upright bass lines and the merciless pounding of Nick Skillman’s drums leave no head unturned, and as the band assaults the stage in unison, Blood On The Harp’s message is delivered to the listener in no uncertain terms.
